How do I Obtain a Learner's Permit using Virtual Drive of California?
Along with various required documents, a vision and two-part written test must be passed to receive the instructional permit in the state of California.
This test covers material in the California Drivers Manual which is broken down for the student and completely prepares the student along with practice Tests
After completing our online course the student will go to one of the Customer Service Centers of the Department of Motor Vehicles to take the test and receive their learner's permit. All 30 hours are required in order for state approval of our course.
Can I use this course for both of my children?
Each child must register individually to receive credit for the course. The first child in each household must purchase the program at full price, each additional child will pay only $19.95 to be added to the online course. How old do I have to be to take this driver education course?
The state of California requires that you be at least 15 and 1/2 years of age to get the learner's permit. We recommend that you begin taking Virtual Drive of California one to two months prior to your 15th birthday. This will give you time to take the course comfortably in order to prepare for the permit test. Remember, you must hold your Instructional permit for 6 months so if you want to get your license at 16, you must get the permit on or around your 15 1/2 th birthday.
Will I need to take a written or driving test at the DPS office after I have completed this course to get my Driver's License?
You are required by law to take a vision test and a small written test which will include basic rules of the road knowledge and signs and signals when applying for your Learners Permit. Once you have met all the criteria for getting the license, you will go to the DMV and take the road test examination.
